Andalusia Police Officer Arrested

Andalusia, Al. (WSFA) -- An Andalusia police officer finds himself on the oppisite side of the law Thursday after an arrest on drug charges.

City of Andalusia Mayor Jerry Andrews released the following statement:

The City of Andalusia is deeply saddened and shocked over the revelation that one of our police officers has been arrested and charged with distribution of narcotics. Officer Joshua Chad Wood was arrested last night at a local motel by members of the Covington County Drug Task Force. He has been placed on Administrative Leave without pay, pending a termination hearing.

As distasteful as this is for me to report to our citizens, I commend the Covington County DTF for putting aside any personal ties and placing their duty above all else. These dedicated officers work day and night to fight the war on drugs no matter how difficult.

This episode underscores our commitment to eradicating drugs and reinforces our determination to not let up the fight. It also serves notice that the terrible scourge of drugs knows no boundaries and infiltrates all segments of our society.
