National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors in Montgomery

More good news for Montgomery's growing convention business as hundreds of people are in town this weekend to talk substance abuse.

The coordinators of Government Drug and Alcohol Recovery Programs in all fifty states are part of the conference.  This is the first time it's been held in Montgomery.

Organizers say the new Renaissance Totel and Convention Center made it possible. The goal: to improve how America deals with substance abuse.

The Alabama Department of Mental Health is hosting the event. Mayor Bobby Bright and Chief Justice Sue Bell Cobb are scheduled to speak to attendees Friday.
