An undercover sting operation ends in eight arrests. A Special Operations Bureau of the Montgomery Police Department conducted an undercover sting operation on Friday at Oak Park and Lagoon Park.
Officers arrested James Hammond Lewis and Williams Jones at Oak Park, and at Lagoon Park John S. Graham, Jeffrey S. Stewart, Raymond D. Owens, Charles A. McCullers, Joe S. Metcalf and Carlos E. Arrington were all arrested.
Investigators tell WSFA 12 News each was arrested for loitering for immoral purposes. We're told this operation focused on males soliciting others for sexual activities. Loitering for immoral purposes is a misdemeanor and is punishable by up to a year in jail.
Montgomery Police say the operation is the result of citizen complaints.
The man arrested in the bombing, who told investigators he wanted to retaliate for American action against Islamic State extremists, came to the U.S. from Bangladesh in 2011 on a visa available to certain relatives of U.S. citizens.More >>
