Covering Lee County: Police Investigate Fatal Shooting

Opelika, AL (WTVM) -- Police are investigating two early morning shootings that left one mad dead and another in the hospital. Officers found 25-year old Demecio Griffin lying in the middle of South Long Street around 1:30 AM on Sunday suffering from a gunshot wound. Griffin was taken to the East Alabama Medical Center where he later died.  Reginald Moffett of Salem was also taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound, he was treated and released. Police say Moffett was shot at the same place on South Long Street as Griffin, and authorities believe the two shootings are connected in some way.
