City of Marion Gets Results of Mayoral Runoff Election

Marion, Al. (WSFA) -- The city of Marion has been locked in a battle for the last four years to see who its mayor would be. Now they have an answer.

Anthony Long will return to city hall as mayor.

Long took 934 votes and the win over Robert Bryant.

Bryant garnered 668 votes.

In 2004 the mayoral election was contested and a judge threw out enough votes for Anthony Long to have the majority. Long had served as mayor for the past three and half years, but recently and after several appeals, a judge ordered a runoff election.

The town has seven days to certify the election results.
