One Killed, Several Injured After Minivan Flips Numerous Times

Montgomery County, Al. (WSFA) -- A reported tire blowout caused a catastrophic set of events Wednesday morning as a van flipped numerous times ejecting several of its occupants.

The accident happened on U.S. Highway 231 near the Sikes and Kohn's Country Mall in Montgomery County just before 10AM.

Witnesses say the beige colored Toyota Sienna minivan flipped at least ten times before coming to rest.

Two Life Flight helicopters were dispatched to the scene.

One person was killed in the accident, and six others were transported to area hospitals.

An eighth occupant was not injured in the accident.

Officials tell WSFA 12 News that four of the eight passengers were ejected from the van while it was flipping.

Two recent high school graduates who took four years of Spanish in school happened upon the scene and were able to assist rescue workers and police in their efforts.

The victims were all of Hispanic descent and were unable to speak English. Their names were not immediately released.
