Montgomery, Al. (WSFA) -- If you were out and about in downtown Montgomery over the weekend, you may have noticed some damage to the famous fountain at Court Square.

The damage occured Friday night when police say a drunk driver slammed his Jeep into the landmark, busting through the fence and popping a tire onto the fountain itself.

The driver was arrested and charged with DUI.

There is no word yet on the extent of the damage there in Court Square.

The fountain was dedicated in 1885 and was restored in 1984.
