Huntsville Police Officer Resigns

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A Huntsville police officer facing drug charges has resigned.

Ryan Moore resigned Monday, just days after appearing before a personnel board that was to determine whether he could remain with the department.

Moore was indicted by a Madison County grand jury last month.

He faces one first-degree possession of marijuana charge and two counts of attempting to possess a controlled substance.

The indictment says that, twice this year, Moore allegedly offered marijuana to fellow officers at the north precinct.

The department announced his resignation in a statement today, The Huntsville Times reported.

Moore had been suspended with pay since March on allegations of "serious police violations."

He had been with the department since May 2006.
