Covering Houston County: Dozens Injured, Two Critical after Church Bus Crash

Dothan, AL (WTVY)-- A church bus crashes into a pick-up truck sending twenty-four people to local hospitals, two of them are in critical condition.  The bus was in a three-bus caravan taking 70 students from Centenary United Methodist Church in Lexington, Kentucky when one of the buses crashed into a full-size pick-up truck on the passenger side.

Witnesses say the driver of the pickup truck lost control on a wet surface and veered into the southbound lane crashing into the second of the three buses.   Sgt. Tim Ward from the Dothan Police Departments, says " It appears it either hydro-planed or the driver lost control, crossed the median in front of the church bus."

Most of the students were treated and released. At least one student was admitted for observation. The bus driver's wife was admitted with serious injuries. In all, seventy-nine students and chaperones from the church were on their way to a youth camp in Panama City, Florida.
