Decision 2008: Alabama Senator Weighs in on District 2 Congressional Race

Montgomery, AL (WSFA) -- The run-off election for Congressional District 2 between Republicans Harri Anne Smith and Jay Love is just a few weeks away, but if you've watched television lately you already know that.   Both sides are running ads against each other.

The District 2 race came up during Republican Senator Jeff Session's visit today in Greenville.  While speaking to residents there, Sen. Sessions told WSFA 12 News he feels it's important a GOP candidate wins the race in November.  He continued to say, "it's important that areas like the Wiregrass, Montgomery, and Southeast Alabama to send a conservative voice to Washington."

After a Republican nominee is picked on July 15th, the winner will face Democratic Candidate Montgomery Mayor Bobby Bright in the general election on November 3rd. T he winner will take over for retiring Congressman Terry Everett.
