Only on 12: Car Crashes, Catches Fire at I-65 Interchange

Montgomery, AL (WSFA) -- A man faces charges after incredibly surviving a crash into a tanker truck.  Authorities say police officers were on their way to a domestic disturbance call when they spotted a car matching the one that fled the scene. Officers say the driver sped up to nearly 100 miles per hour and by the time police turned around the driver crashed and collided with the rear of a tanker truck loaded with 3,000 gallons of fuel.

When officers pulled up, the driver tried to run away.  Officers caught him, cuffed him, and sent him to the hospital. The driver of the tanker was sent to the hospital as well complaining of back pain.

The on ramps to Interstate 85 North from 65 South and Day Street were shut down for quite a while so officers could investigate the accident.

Officers arrested 27 year old Davarius Jackson for outstanding warrants and harassment.   Jackson also received tickets for speeding, driving without insurance, and driving with a revoked license.
