Psychiatric Inpatient Program: (334) 260-3625

The Meadhaven Psychiatric Inpatient Program deals with psychiatric problems that can affect men and women during any stage in their lives. Sometimes life-threatening psychiatric illnesses are as serious as heart disease or cancer, and like any physical illness, should not be ignored. Effective treatment is available to allow individuals to go on to lead healthy, happy lives.

According to statistics provided by the National Institute of Mental Health, one out of six adults experiences emotional problems at some time in their lives. It is further estimated that more than 51million Americans have a mental disorder in a single year. Fortunately, there are many new and effective forms of treatment available.

Located in the Meadhaven building on the campus of Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery, the Meadhaven Psychiatric Inpatient Program is a 24-hour comprehensive, short-term treatment facility. The program provides emotional, medical and psychiatric support for adults requiring intensive evaluation and treatment. The goal at Meadhaven is to provide treatment in a caring and compassionate manner.

Meadhaven provides a reassuring, therapeutic environment. Through a structured plan of therapy, patients are given opportunities to improve social, physical and mental skills. The following services are provided:

  • 24-hour admission available
  • Comprehensive medical and psychiatric assessment
  • Individual and group psychotherapy
  • Recreational and physical therapy
  • Medication management
  • Family involvement
  • Discharge and continued care planning

The patient's psychiatrist leads the multidisciplinary treatment team. This team includes therapists, social workers and psychiatric nurses. Access is also available to primary care physicians and other medical specialists.

The problems facing our patients also affect their family members. The patient's family is an important part of the treatment and is included in family conferences and discharge planning.
