A Macon County gas station owner is taking drastic action to stop gas theft, but his controversial solution has some eyebrows raised.
The station owner has posted paper signs on each pump reminding drivers they will be shot at if they don't pay.
That's right. The owner posted signs that actually say he'll shoot if you steal.
Terence Merchant posted the sign which says:
"You Must Pay Before You Pump, All Drive Offs Will Be Shot At!"
Merchant tells our newspartner, WTVM, that the high cost of gas was leading to more drive offs and he's tired of it.
"I was outside and the guy disrespected me by driving off, so I'm just putting out a little warning" Merchant says of a recent customer who didn't pay.
