Wiregrass Newsroom: Fireworks to Blame for Dothan House Fire

Dothan, Al (WSFA)-- A massive house fire in downtown Dothan is now under control.  According to officials from the Dothan Fire Department, units responded to a call just after 12:30 p.m. to a house on Virginia Avenue.  Firefighters battled the blaze for a hour and a half before getting the fire under control.  Officials also say the fire was difficult to control because of the heat, humidity and the fact that the house was converted into a four separate apartments.

Fortunately, the building was unoccupied.  However, officials say one firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion.  Investigators believe fireworks started the blaze. At this time, no charges have been filed.
