Montgomery, Al (WSFA) -- Montgomery police say two people suffered "life threatening" injuries after a single vehicle crash on the Birmingham Highway Friday afternoon.

The accident happened around 1pm.

Investigators say the driver of the car was traveling southbound on the highway just north of the West Boulevard when the driver lost control.

The identities of the two victims has not been released at this time.

The car apparently spun several times across the northbound lands and went into the ditch, officers tell us, stricking a telephone pole and then a tree before coming to rest.

The accident is still under investigation at this hour.
