Tuition Hike and Joe Reed Discussed at ASU Meeting

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Alabama State University is the latest university to hike tuition. The university's board of trustees voted to raise rates by 12.4% at its meeting Monday, an increase of around $300 per semester.

The University of Alabama system and Auburn University both increased their cost of attendance earlier this year.

During the meeting, the Board also found time to reject a mediated proposal to put Joe L. Reed's name back on the Acadome.

Reed's name was stripped from the University's signature building back in May after the Board blamed him for numerous grievances against ASU.

And former President Dr. Joe Lee's severance package has been voted on and approved. The package is worth about $290,000.
