Man arrested after allegedly robbing Burger King

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A Whopper sandwich was the last thing on one man's mind after an early morning stop at the Burger King on Carmichael Road.

Montgomery police say 29-year-old Mark Giles of 607 Planters Road walked into the restaurant around 2:15 Friday morning and demanded money.

Officers responded to the robbery call only to find Giles running from the back door. A perimeter was set up and K-9 officers were able to capture the suspect a short time later.

Police say they were able to recover the businesses money as well as a 9mm semi-automatic handgun. No injuries were reported in the crime.

Giles, who was out of jail on probation for another robbery charge, was taken back to the restaurant where employees positively identified him as the robber.

He is now being held with out bond because of probation violations.
