Routine Traffic Stop Takes Dangerous Turn

Montgomery, AL (WSFA) -- A traffic stop turns out to be anything but routine for Montgomery County Sheriff's deputies.  Deputies say they pulled over a driver for speeding on Interstate 85 near the Ann Street exit and as they approached the car, he began yelling at the officers and refused to follow their commands.   That's when deputies used a taser on him.

Lt. Rodney Barrett with the Montgomery County Sheriff's office says, "that's why it's so important for citizens to follow the commands received on a traffic stop, because if you deviate we have to take necessary precautions for our safety and this day and time it's a violent world we live in."

According to deputies,  the driver had an outstanding warrant against him.
