Federal prisoners coming to Covington County

ANDALUSIA, AL (WSFA) - Covington County's jail will soon become home to some federal prisoners.

The county has signed a 3 year deal with the U.S. Marshals Service to house federal inmates.

In the next few days 24 inmates will make the move to the new facility.

The county hopes the deal will add hundreds of thousands of dollars to its budget.

In the meantime, the deal has already created a couple extra jobs in the area.

Sheriff Dennis Meeks got an additional two employees to help with the added work.
