Montgomery Police Make Arrest in City's 14th Murder of the Year

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Montgomery police have a suspect in custody in the city's 14th murder of the year.

Investigators say a 17-year-old boy, whose name was not release, was found with a gunshot wound to the head last Thursday morning at the intersection of Taft and Malvern Streets. He later died at Baptist South Hospital.

Witnesses say the boy and another person were walking in the area when a man came up and shot him in the head. Investigators believe robbery was the motive.

On Tuesday, police say witnesses positively identified 22-year old Reco Morrell from Montgomery as the shooter.

After officers obtained murder warrants on Morrell, he turned himself in to police.

Now, he's being held at the Montgomery County Detention Facility under no bond.

Morrell's photograph is not being released at this time because investigators might use it to show to other witnesses.
