Alabama Recognized for High Financial Standards

Montgomery, Al (WSFA) -- Alabama was recognized today for maintaining high standards in financial matters.  The Association of Government Accountants, or AGA, named State Comptroller Bob Childree a recipient of the 2008 National President's Award.

The award recognizes extraordinary contributions toward the goal of excellence and accountability in government financial matters.

Gina Smith with the State Department of Finance says, "Governor Bob Riley has made it a primary goal of his administration to be sure the government is more open, and I think this award is proof of that."
