Two Hour Standoff at Chilton County Home

CHILTON COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - A man is in jail this afternoon after a standoff with the Chilton County Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff Kevin Davis says deputies were attempting to serve two warrants on Kenneth Mims Wednesday afternoon when they spotted drugs inside his home.

Mims wasn't home at the time officers discovered the drugs, but as deputies obtained a search warrant on the home Mims drove up.

Officials tell WSFA 12 news when Mims saw deputies at his home he drove off.

He eventually jumped out of his car and ran into a neighborhood where he barricaded himself in a home with an elderly woman inside.

About two hours later, deputies convinced the man to surrender.

No one was hurt in the incident.
