Education Report: New School Year Underway in Montgomery

Montgomery, AL (WSFA) - The new school year is officially underway for Montgomery public school students.

It was a busy day at schools across the county. School officials say luckily there were no major problems other than the usual first day of school trouble, which is added traffic.

WSFA 12 News was at two schools observing how the first day went. E.D.Nixon Elementary's principal said she was excited to begin the new year and that many parents were coming in on the first day dropping off much needed school supplies. WSFA 12 News was also at Robert E. Lee's High School. The principal there reported no problems. The school is implementing a brand new school dress code policy. All shirts must be tucked in and all students must wear a belt.
