MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - The northbound lanes of Interstate 65 have been reopened to traffic this evening after a tanker truck accident slowed traffic in the area of the Interstate 65/85 interchange.
The accident happened around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon. Montgomery Police Department spokesman Captain Huey Thornton says the driver of a tanker truck reported he was attempting to avoid another vehicle when he lost control.
The trailer jack-knifed and separated from the truck, coming to rest under the Herron Street overpass.
The hauler was carrying just 20 gallons of gasoline when the accident happened.
I-65 North was closed for about two hours at Herron Street.
One southbound lane at the Clay Street exit is still closed at this time.
Traffic was rerouted onto the exit ramps as crews attempted to clear the accident.
Thornton says there were no injuries in the accident.
