New Sirens Coming to Pike County

PIKE COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - A tornado siren can often be the first warning of danger for many people living in rural alabama.

Now in Pike County, warning residents of bad weather is going to get a little easier.

The Pike County Commission accepted a contract bid Tuesday to place seven new emergency sirens throughout the area.

The new sirens will help fill in the gaps in parts of the county lacking warning sirens.

Currently, there are 11 sirens already in operation throughout Pike County.
