MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Tropical Storm Fay's possible threat to the Gulf coast has Mobile officials preparing for several days of rain starting Saturday.
Mobile County Emergency Management Agency director Walt Dickerson says Fay, still lingering over Florida, could be downgraded to a tropical depression if it reaches Mobile.
But he says rains could continue through Tuesday and emergency equipment to handle potential flooding stands ready for use in case of evacuations.
He says EMA officials will meet Friday morning to continue preparations, with plans to open some storm shelters if needed.
