Closing Arguments Wrapped Up, Woodward Case Goes to Jury

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Closing arguments finished Monday morning in the Mario Woodward trial capital murder.

The jury began deliberations in around 11:20a.m.

Wooward is accused of shooting to death Montgomery police officer Keith Houts in 2006.

Jurors heard from witnesses who indicated Woodward said on his cell phone that he had killed a police officer.

The defense claims that testimony is unreliable.

If convicted, Woodward could face life in prison or the death penalty.
