MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The winner of Alabama's presidential primary, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, has officially released his Alabama delegates.
Huckabee sent a letter to Alabama Republican Party Chairman Mike Hubbard releasing the delegates and encouraging them to vote for the nomination of Sen. John McCain at the Republican convention next week.
Hubbard says Huckabee's decision shows members of the Republican Party are all on the same team.
Huckabee won 26 delegates and McCain got 19 in Alabama's presidential primary in February.
In a press statement Republican candidate for Alabama's District 2 Congressional seat said of Huckabee, "By releasing his delegates, Gov. Huckabee has shown what it means to serve a cause greater than one's self.
Love goes on to say, "This convention is about putting country first, and Gov. Huckabee understands that. Republicans all across the country are speaking together with one voice for strong, consistent, conservative leadership. As delegates, my wife Cheri and I will be proud to cast our votes for John McCain and throw him our full support for President of the United States."
