MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - A 16-year-old is in the hospital and police are looking for a suspect in this shooting that occurred Tuesday.

The shooting happened around the noon hour in the 3800 block of Court Street, near the WSFA-TV studios.

Police are looking for another teenager whom they believe is involved.

Police say the 16-year-old was walking along Court Street when it's believed he got into an argument with another teen.

Witnesses tell police the victim tried to walk away and that's when the other teen fire a gun hitting him in the lower back.  We're told the victim's injuries are not life threatening.

A motive has yet to be given but investigators say it's because of the teen's age and the fact that he should have been in school.

"It's very concerning to us," said Montgomery Police Department spokesman Captain Huey Thornton, "that someone that age was not in school...but the fact they were out here involved in a heinous crime has extra concern for us and urgency to apprehend this suspect and take them off the streets of Montgomery."

Police say the shooter was driven away from the Court Street area in a burgundy colored Ford Contour.

Detectives are following several promising leads that might lead to an arrest.
