Andalusia residents vote former mayor back in office

Andalusia, Al. (WSFA) -- Andalusia residents have voted former mayor Earl Johnson back into office.

Johnson won against incumbent Mayor Jerry Andrews in Tuesday's municipal election, gaining a 491-vote edge over the current mayor, beating him 1,330 to 839.

Residents call Johnson's win the result of "Andalusia's longest mayoral campaign."  Johnson started campaigning again immediately following his 2004 loss to Jerry Andrews.

Mayor Andrews tells WSFA 12 News he will retire from public office at the end of his term.
