State Moves Mobile Bay Ferries in Prep for Gustav

BALDWIN COUNTY, AL - In preparation for tropical storm/hurricane Gustav, the Alabama Department of Transportation announces the relocation of ALDOT's ferries, the Marissa Mae Nicole and the Ft. Morgan.

The Marissa Mae departed her Dauphin Island berth at approximately 11:00 a.m. this morning with an anticipated arrival time at the Alabama State Docks in Mobile River in Mobile, Alabama around 3:00 this afternoon.

The Ft. Morgan Ferry will continue to make runs between Dauphin Island and Ft. Morgan as long as safely possible, at which time she will be relocated to the State Docks in the same berthing area as the Marissa Mae Nicole.

The decision as to when to actually pull the Ft. Morgan off line will probably be made sometime Friday based on the storm's anticipated track and intensity.
