MONTGOMERY, Ala,.(AP) - Alabama Gov. Bob Riley and the two top Republican officials from Mobile have not gone to their party's presidential nominating convention in Minnesota due to Hurricane Gustav.
Riley and U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions and Rep. Jo Bonner are remaining in the state, at least for now, to make sure emergency preparations for the storm go smoothly and there is no crisis after the storm passes.
State GOP communications director Philip Bryan said Sunday that other members of the delegation have indicated they will stay in St. Paul for the convention.
