Three Car Accident in Montgomery Claims the Life of Dothan Woman

Tuesday afternoon, there was a chain reaction on Taylor Road at Halcyon Boulevard near Buddy Watson Park. Officers say a Jeep Liberty rear ended a car that hit another. "The accident is still under investigation," said Lt. C.D. Williams.

The driver of the second car died shortly after the accident. Police identify her as 70 year old Samme Brown from Dothan. Her cocker spaniel was in the car with her. It appeared to be okay, just missing its owner.  Police say Browns' family will come to Montgomery to pick up the dog Wednesday morning.

Police had to shut down the northbound lanes of Taylor Road while they worked the scene. They diverted traffic into the southbound lanes. That backed up traffic on that side of the road. Officers reopened Taylor Road North around 6:30 p.m.

What caused the crash? Officers hoped to learn more from the drivers of the two other cars. Lt. Williams said, "They are the only ones who know. We have no witnesses at this point."

No one else involved in the accident was seriously injured.

More than half of the 17 people killed when a tourist boat sank on a Branson lake were members of the same Indiana family, and they likely wouldn't have been on the ill-fated trip but for a ticket mix-up.
