Troy Power Rate Increase

Troy's power ratess are going up. Troy owns its electrical distribution system, reselling electricity it buys from Alabama Power.

Wednesday, Troy City Council approved a 14% rate hike, passing along an increase in what it pays the power company.

The city's current contract started in 2005 and called for an increase in the city's wholesale cost this year.  The rates should stay the same for the next two years, according to the contract.
