Rabid raccoon found in Covington County

Montgomery, Ala. (WSFA) -- Two dogs found playing with a dead raccoon is creating concern in Covington County.  The raccoon was found near the Pier 7 Road on Monday.

It was sent to Mobile for testing and confirmed to have rabies.

The 2 dogs were re-vaccinated and in their owner's observation for the next 45 days.

The state has tested 28 animals in Covington County, and so far two foxes and four raccoons tested positive.

Pet owners are encouraged to get their animals vaccinated.
