Montgomery Police Department observes moment of silence

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Tuesday was a solemn day for the Montgomery Police Department.

It was two years ago on September 30, 2006 that officer Keith Houts died.

Houts was shot two days earlier during a routine traffic stop.

To observe the anniversary, the MPD paused at noon in a moment of silence.

The man convicted of Houts' murder, Mario Woodward, was sentenced to death last week.

Woodward now sits on death row.
