Saban praises No. 2 Tide's effort despite miscues

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama coach Nick Saban isn't sure he would have bet before the season that his team would win its first six games.

Saban said the second-ranked Crimson Tide has played at a very high intensity level and with a lot of toughness. Alabama reached the midway point of the regular season with a perfect record after Saturday night's 17-14 win over Kentucky.

The sometimes sloppy performance against the Wildcats gave Saban plenty of teaching points for an open date. The Tide committed three turnovers and 10 penalties. Alabama doesn't play again until Mississippi visits on Oct. 18.
