Most of us want to help other people, but the busi-ness of our lives sometimes makes it difficult. We need a nudge... a suggestion... a little organized guidance.
Make a Difference Day 2008, a 16 year old nationwide event, is coming up on Saturday, October 25, and the Volunteer and Information Center in Montgomery is using that day to make it easier for us to volunteer and serve.
There are at least 20 projects planned in the River Region, from painting schools to recycling to working on cars. There is certainly SOMETHING for everyone to do. Youth, church, and civic groups are encouraged to take on whole projects or even come up with projects of their own design.
What may be more significant than the difference this one day makes is the long term effect of introducing people to volunteerism. We believe this could be the single most effective agent of change available to the River Region... and the world.
We applaud the Volunteer and Information Center and all those who have already signed up to participate. We encourage EVERYONE to sign up.
