MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Montgomery police say they have arrested a suspect in the city's 20th murder of the year.

18-year-old Jeremy Riley surrendered to police Tuesday afternoon and was charged with the murder of 30-year-old Alexander Shorts.

Witnesses told police on the scene Monday that Riley shot Shorts in the back as he ran from the scene on Delray Road.

It's believed the two men were involved in a love triangle with the same woman.

"The victim and the suspect were involved in a dating relationship with the same female," said Montgomery Police Department spokesman Captain Huey Thornton Monday.

When police arrived on the scene they found Shorts lieing in the middle of the street suffering from a gunshot wound to the back.

Shorts was taken to an area hospital where he later died around 1pm.

Riley is being held on $50,000 bond at the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
