Down payment Assistance Program reopened in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Eligible first-time home buyers will soon be able to take advantage of an assistance program in the capital city.

The city of Montgomery has reopened its down payment assistance program for those who qualify, handing out up to $5,000 towards the purchase of a home inside the city limits.

There are a few requirements for those seeking to apply for the money. First, you have to be approved by a mortgage lender.

Second, there are maximum income limits in place set by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Finally, those who qualify must attend mandatory home ownership training.
