Hyundai to Cut Production

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - In another sign of the tough economic times Hyundai in Montgomery is cutting back it's production schedule.

Hyundai will tap the breaks on production, sitting idle for eleven days through the end of the year.

The company blames a slowing economy. "It's a tough decision," said Hyundai Spokesperson Robert Burns.

The goal is to cut back production to meet demand.

The change means employees will see about eight hours less per pay check. "Team members have the option to use vacation or personal days," said Burns.

The eleven off days are scheduled on Fridays and also around the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays periods.

Hyundai officials say the new schedule is subject to change depending on future sales and market conditions.
