Dothan, Ala. (WSFA) -- When it comes to golf, the public says Alabama is king.

Readers of the magazine Golf World voted courses along Alabama's Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail as some of the best in the country.

In their recent issue the top two courses were in Alabama along with another RTJ course in the top 50.

"It's very nice to be recognized by the golf writers as having one of the best facilities in the country, that are top notch and worth playing when folks are travelling," said Mike Barber, Director of Golf at Highland Oaks.

Barber says this acclaim means more people will be inclined to play other trail courses, like Highland Oaks.

Highland Oaks, right here in Dothan I put up with any of the golf courses on the trail," says Barber.

Highland Oaks impact stretches far beyond the fairways here at the golf course, it reaches deep into the economic community.

"Over the last ten years our hotel revenue has been greatly enhanced," said Bob Hendrix of Visitors and Convention Bureau.

Hendrix says those people spend a lot of money which means a lot of sales tax revenue for Dothan.
