FALKVILLE, Ala. (AP) - The classmates of a Falkville High School student who apparently hanged herself in a school restroom believe she was distraught over a romantic breakup.
Falkville Police Chief Chris Free said a staff member found 16-year-old Emily Robbins hanging in a restroom stall at about 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.
He said Robbins had left a note nearby.
Staff members performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the teen and she was taken to Hartselle Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Classmates said she and her boyfriend had either been engaged or he had given her a promise ring.
Her stepfather, Carl Tuttle, told The Decatur Daily that Robbins had been hospitalized and was released last week, but declined to elaborate.
