Montgomery youth shooting ruled accidental

Montgomery, Ala. (WSFA) -- The Montgomery Police Department says a weekend shooting involving a 16-year-old boy will be ruled "accidental". The boy's friend was showing him a gun when it apparently discharged.

Officers were called to a home on Gardendale Drive around 4pm Sunday where the boy was suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officials though the boy's condition was life-threatening and medics rushed the teenager to Jackson Hospital.

Doctors down-graded his condition late Sunday evening to "not life-threatening."

Lt. Mark Drinkard tells WSFA 12 News there have been no charges filed against the suspect at this time.
