OPELIKA , Ala. (AP) - Authorities have determined a Georgia man wanted on an outstanding warrant died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to Lee County, Ala., Coroner Bill Harris, Opelika police officers attempted to arrest 29-year-old Darius Rivers of Kennesaw on Sunday afternoon, but he fled and led police on a high speed chase. Harris said officers pursued Rivers for several blocks and he was found dead of a gunshot to the head. A female riding with Rivers was detained for questioning. The Alabama Bureau of Investigation is handling the death investigation. Harris said Rivers had been wanted for a failure to appear warrant out of Birmingham.
