Grand jury rules on Troy officer rape accusation

PIKE COUNTY, AL (WSFA) - District Attorney Gary McAliley's office says a grand jury has returned with no indictment against a Troy police officer.

According to the D.A.'s office a report was filed on Easter Sunday of 2008 against Officer Willie Murray Toney, who was accused of rape and sodomy of an 8-year-old girl a few weeks prior.

The Alabama Bureau of Investigation presented its findings to a Pike County grand jury this week.

After deliberations, the grand jury returned with no indictment against Toney, and since D.A. McAliley says all available evidence has been presented there are no plans to bring charges in the future.
