Montgomery Teen Gets 65 Years For Robbery-Murder

A Montgomery teenager convicted in the robbery-slaying of a Hispanic man is headed to prison.

At Thursday's sentencing, a circuit judge sentenced 18-year-old Gregory Walker to 65 years in prison.

A co-defendant, 18-year-old Vondon Lovett Jr., also of Montgomery, pleaded guilty and testified against Walker. He will serve 20 years.

Prosecutors said Walker shot and killed 20-year-old Joel Bartolon Peres in Oct. 2006. It outside an apartment complex in east Montgomery.

The victim's 17-year-old companion was also robbed, but he was not harmed.
