Big bear bagged!

Big bear! Big bear!

Washington resident Dennis Durbin was looking for deer when he set out on a recent hunting trip, but ended up bagging the surprise of a lifetime.

Durbin shot and killed a 570 pound black bear.

"It was such a shock to shoot it so close to where Ii live amongst other people like that. It was enormous, the head on it was absolutely out of this world," Durbin said.

Most black bears brought in by Washington state hunters are less than half the size of the massive specimen shot by Durbin.

Looking at the photos of the bear don't adequately convey the animal's size, partly because of Dennis' own size.

He's 6 feet, 7 inches tall.

Durbin plans to use the bear's meat to feed his extended family for the next year.
