Two win re-election bids to state board of education

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Two incumbents, a Republican and Democrat, have won their bids to retain seats on the state board of education.

Republican Stephanie Bell of Montgomery had 66 percent to Jacksonville Democrat Judy West Bell's 33 percent in the District 3 race.

And Democrat Ella Bell of Montgomery defeated Notasulga challenger Lula Bridges with 67 percent to Bridges' 32 percent for the District 5 seat.

In the unofficial count Tuesday night, Republican Randy McKinney of Gulf Shores led his Democratic challenger Kenyon Berry in District 1, while Republican Garry Warren and Democrat Earl Gardner traded the lead in their bid to fill the seat of retiring Democrat Sandra Ray in District 7.
