Bid awarded for new Carver High School

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Construction will soon start on Montgomery's newest high school.

On Thursday the Montgomery County School Board awarded a bid contract to Raybern Construction Company to build the new Carver High School.

Raybern Construction is based out of Auburn.

The new school will be built next door to the old school at a price of $35 million.

That's a million dollars under budget.

Construction will begin a couple of weeks and will take approximately two years to build.

The school board also released drawings of several schools it plans to build in the near future including: Bellingrath Middle School, Carr Middle School, Carver High School, Davis Elementary School, Floyd Elementary School and Wilson Elementary School.

Montgomery Public Schools spokeswoman Mona Davis says the elementary schools will accomodate around 600 students while the middle and high schools would hold 800 to 1,200 students.
